How many LiFePO4 batteries do I need for off-grid living?
It depends on your setup. For 10kWh of daily use, four 12V 200Ah lithium batteries will do the job. Always plan with a bit of buffer for cloudy days.
Why is LiFePO4 battery better than lead-acid for off-grid?
The LiFePO4 batteries have better efficiency, zero maintenance, way more usable capacity, and a lifespan. The Lead-acid batteries are heavy and prone to discharge, in the long run, lithium batteries are more cost-effective.
Can I hook these lithium batteries up to solar and an inverter?
No problem. As long as the MPPT controller supports the LiFePO4 mode, the battery voltage matches the MPPT requirements, and the inverter input voltage is compatible.
Do these batteries work in cold weather?
Yes. Power Queen batteries can discharge at temperatures as low as –20°C, and charge above 0°C. For heated battery models, charging is possible even at temperatures as low as –20°C. This makes them suitable for remote cabins or camper use.
How much maintenance do they need?
Almost none. No topping off, no equalizing. Just make sure the terminals stay clean and tight. That’s it.
